Job Description

Organizational Context 

The UNDP Youth and Social Cohesion (YSC) Project supports provincial governments in fostering practical approaches to addressing conflict risks as a means towards sustainable and inclusive development.
The project will directly support communities, especially youth, in selected conflict-prone areas to strengthen their capacities to mitigate conflict risks and strengthen social cohesion. The project will also establish a multi-disciplinary open data analysis platform hosted at University of Peshawar (UoP) to enhance public awareness and facilitate evidence-based policy making in Khyber Pakthunkhwa to enhance conflict mitigation and social cohesion.
At the institutional level, the project will support provincial governments to respond to the changing context with new reforms for delegation of authority, with the objective of contributing to further legitimacy of state institutions. Additionally, the project will contribute to more conflict-sensitive UNDP programming in Pakistan
UNDP seeks services of an Activities Officer who will work under the supervision of the Virtual Observation and Analysis platform Inception Lead and the Chief Technical Specialist, YSC and will be responsible to manage overall implementation of the VPPC in Peshawar.

Functions / Key Results Expected
Summary of key functions:
1. Implementation, oversight and Monitoring of the Virtual Observation and Analysis platform based at the University of Peshawar

  1. Community outreach and coordination with relevant university departments and local institutions
  2. Coordination with project counterparts and partners for effective and timely project implementation and reporting
  3. Close monitoring and coordination of the Virtual Observation and Analysis platform team to maintain data collection, visualization, and analysis process
  4. Facilitate production of knowledge outputs and dissemination
  5. Represent UNDP as and when required
  6. Support the Youth and Social Cohesion with other tasks, as identified by the Chief Technical Specialist

Impact of Results
The key results have an impact on the success of the crisis prevention and recovery component of the country programme. In particular, the key results have an impact on the design, operation and programming of activities, creation of strategic partnerships as well as reaching resource mobilization targets.

Recruitment Qualifications


Master’s Degree preferably in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Political Sciences, Social Sciences or related field.

At least one year of relevant experience of working with management of complex multi-disciplinary research project, with design, implementation, and monitoring of development projects, and with establishing inter-relationships among international organizations, national governments, implementing partners and other stakeholders. Experience with data collection and analysis cycles,with public policy making, and with conflict and political analysis in KP are assets.

Language Requirements:

Fluency in English, Urdu, and preferably in Pashto.
